Odike replies NPP, confirms taking money from Mahama
Leader and founder of the United Progressive Party (UPP),
Akwasi Addai Odike has confirmed allegations against him for having taking
money from President John Mahama and the NDC to fund his campaign.
He says the constitution of Ghana allows him to source money
from anywhere within the country to finance his political activity and so he
has not done anything wrong.
Speaking with TOPNEWS1, Mr. Odike
disclosed both President John Mahama and the flag bearer of the NPP, Nana
Akuffo Addo are his personal friends and have received flavors from both of them on countless occasions.
He urged Ghanaians to disregard rumors that he is doing
the bidding of the NDC and accused the NPP of rather being in bed with them.
On the performance of the current NDC government, the embattled
leader of the UPP said President Mahama has not lived up to his expectation and
promised to increase cocoa production from the current 650,000 metric tons per
year to 10,000,000 metric tons per year in four years if he has the opportunity
to govern the country after the November elections.
"I will make cocoa our
national flower" he said.
