“Baamu Yada” demo records massive turn out

Thousands of demonstrators have hit the principal streets of Kumasi to demonstrate against the Electoral Commission of Ghana E/C.

The demonstration which received massive number of people from various places brought on the grounds members of the LMVCA, AFAG, some NPP members and executives including some aged people.

The demonstrators clad in their red and black attire were holding placards with inscriptions such as High electricity bills, we won’t agree, where is Peace council, E/C must sit up, 8 years is enough, 

EC working with Mahama and others.
Their reason was to register their dissatisfaction against the conduct of the E/C concerning the validity of the voter register.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Party NDP also joined the demonstrators to register their dissatisfaction against the E/C director Mrs. Charlotte Osei.

The Regional chairman of the NDP Mr.Owusu Ansah told TOPNEWS1 that the E/C must heed to the call by Ghanaians and comply to validate the voter register in order to ensure decent elections in November.

The start point of the demonstration was at the State Boys School Park behind the Suame round about and marched through the principal streets of Kumasi and ended at Abys Park in Ash Town.

Some old people in the Kumasi Metropolis also dropped their walking sticks to join the demonstrators.

Although the main agenda for the demonstration according to the NPP and their allies was to register their dissatisfaction against the conduct of the E/C in connection with the validity of the voter register, some of the protestors who spoke with TOPNEWS1 had their own aim of joining the protestors.

Some of them said they have joined the demonstration to call on President Mahama to be up and doing and find lasting solution to the unbearable economic crisis.

There was tight security outrage at the grounds to ensure safety demonstration.
