Security analyst and peace ambassador for the 2016 general elections, Irbard Ibrahim has called on the electoral Commission of Ghana to heed to the calls by the opposition NPP and its allies to validate the current voters register as recommended by the Justice VCRAC Crabbe Committee.

The recommendation of the committee came after allegations by the NPP that Ghana’s Electoral Album was infiltrated by foreign nationals and minors and therefore called on the EC to as a matter of urgency compile a new register since the current one was compromised.

The Electoral Commission, headed by Mrs. Charlotte Osei have failed to implement the committee’s recommendation, compelling the NPP, LMVCA,AFAG and Movement For Change to hit the streets of Kumasi to bare their teeth at the commission, in a demonstration dubbed “BAAMU YADA” which literally means “We Won’t Agree”.

In an interview with TOPNEWS1 in reaction to the demonstration, the peace ambassador advised the Electoral Commission not to turn a deaf ear to the grievances of the masses, cautioning it has the tendency to wreak havoc on the nation.

“If the EC take an entrenched position and the outcome of the elections goes contrary to the expectation of the people, what happened in Burundi could happen in Ghana because the youth will rise up in arms” he admonished.

Thousands of NPP supporters took to the streets of Kumasi today to demonstrate against the EC for what according to them, is their ploy to do the bidding of President John Mahama and the NDC to retain them in power come November this year.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako told TOPNEWS1 their stance is not negotiable and would compel the EC to fall in line with the demand for a validation of the album before the elections.
