Man 19 shot himself dead after being compelled to marry his fiancée.

A 19 year old native of Sawla in the Northern Region, Kwabena Simon has shot himself dead at Bomaa after relatives of his 19-year-old fiancée demanded that he perform the necessary marital rites.

According to the police, Simon eloped with his fiancée, Felicia Tetrah, and settled with her at Bomaa in the Tano North District of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Meanwhile, Tetrah’s family traced the two to Bomaa, with the intention of sending her back to Sawla to compel Simon to perform the customary rites leading to marriage.

Not satisfied with the turn of events, Simon is reported to have entered his room when the emissary from Sawla was waiting outside, only to shoot himself.

He was found dead in a pool of blood on his bed.

His body has been deposited at the Tepa Government morgue for autopsy, while a single-barreled shotgun was retrieved from the scene of the incident.

Inhumane:Taxi driver beaten mercilessly by Policemen

A taxi driver believed to be in his 40's who ply Anloga Junction to Atonsu had a close shave after some t hree Police Men p ounced on him and assulted him at the Anloga junction Taxi rank. The victim who mentioned his name as Agya Poku explaining his ordeal to TOPNEWS1 said, he engaged in an exchange of insults with the police personnel who were not in their uniform for intentionally blocking the road with their motor bike whilst the traffic light had indicated green. He said, the cops chased him to his taxi rank where he packed his car, dragged him out of his car and started to beat him up, handcuffed him and drove him off to the central Police station where he received several brutalities from other colleagues of the men in black. The driver added that, he was taken to the Police counter after receiving the beatings where he was detained for sometime before releasing him. He is currently in the hospital receiving treatment.

Politicians Tasked to Respect Tradition

The Krontiene for Sunyani Traditional Council has urged politicians to respect traditional authorities in the country. According to Nana Oboaman Bofotia Boampensem, politicians in the country have over the years displayed gross disrespect for traditional rulers, adding that the politicians are too bossy.
