Government urged to enforce illegal chainsaw law.
The Programs Director for Tropenbos International Ghana, Mr. Samuel Nketia, is advocating for the review of the existing forestry laws and policies to ensure sanity in the industry. He said, although, illegal chainsaw activities which had been prohibited by the Timber Resource Management Regulations has been a livelihood support for many Ghanaians but has adversely affected the Country. He was speaking at the presentation of some items to the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana at Fumesua where he attributed the cause of the intense hot weather currently in the country to illegal chainsaw operation and urged practitioners to use the right channel in their activities in order to preserve our forest.
