SMALL SCALE MINERS DIVIDE OVER POLITICAL PARTY FORMATION

There is currently what could be described as division among members of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners over a decision to establish a political party by some of the members.
The Executives of the Association have snubbed the decision, saying they are not in support of that.
A section of the Ghana National Association of small scale miners (GNASSM) have declared their resolve to form a political party in the name of the Association to fight for their interest, as they claim the two major Political parties, NPP and NDC have failed to fight on their behalf.
Their decision follows refusal by government to lift the ban imposed on their activities, despite several agitations and confrontations with the government.
But speaking in an interview with Ekuoba Gyasi on Atinka FM flagship AM drive, the Director of Operations for the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM), Emmanuel Yirenkyi indicated that (GNASSM) is a business Association which has not thought of setting up a political party.
According to him, though they are not happy with how they are being treated, they have not decided on anything of that sort, saying the executive is not in support of that decision.
