A deluge has rendered scores of residents homeless at Ohwim and Amanfrom, in the Bantama constituency in the Ashanti Region, following a heavy downpour yesterday, 22nd November, 2017.

Properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis were subsequently devastated as a result of the deluge.

Some of the affected residents in an interview with the Media said they have been left stranded, as they do not have any other place to lodge.

One of them, Opanin Kofi Boateng blamed the situation on a clogged drain in the area which he said got overflowed with water and invaded their homes.

"There is a gutter right here which has been blocked with refuse and other materials. The gutter was formally not here but as people began to settle here, it also found it's way here". He noted.

He said the water entered their rooms, invading their wardrobes, bags and other storage areas to destroy their belongings.

"All our belongings have been destroyed. The water flooded our rooms, our wardrobes and entered into our bags. We have no hope".

Meanwhile, the Assembly member at the area, hon. Alexander Gyamfi in an interview expressed worries over the situation.

He said he was surprise about the rampant rainfalls at this period.

"It is a very sad situation for homes to be flooded with water at this time. We sympathize with those affected and thank God for not recording any casualties".

He assured that the Assembly will put up measures to ensure nothing of that sort happens again in the area.
