Boafo herbal company denies contracting police to manhandle their staff over stolen money

The management of Boafuo herbal company, popularly known as maale - maale  has denied allegations they ordered the police to manhandle one of their workers over stolen and burnt money.

There has been viral audio and pictures of Abutrika, a 27 year of mechanic who works with the Boafo herbal company at Mamponteng on social media, which indicate that he (Abutrika) has been severely beaten by police at Mamponteng under the incitation of his CEO, Mr. Opoku for stealing a whooping Gh₵ 228 from them and burning some of the money.

But addressing a section of journalist at the premises of the company, the PRO of the company, Mr Oduro Samuel, admitted having some police issues with their employee, Abutrika but refuted contracting the police to flog him.

"Yes indeed, we reported a case to the police about a stolen and burning of a whooping Gh ₵228 which belongs to the company. The police invited all the staff here to their station and upon their intelligence, discovered Abutrika to be the suspect. In order to compel him to confess, they flogged him, just as it is part of their work" he said.

He added that they have withdrawn their side of the case from the police after such allegations which he said could mar the reputation of the company.

He said their suspect, Abutrika is currently having an issue with the police but not for stealing from them but for burning the money.

He indicated that though they do not have any evidence, all circumstances surrounding the incident point fingers at Abutrika that he stole and set fire on some of the money.

"We suspect Abutrika to the culprit because he has been involved in some criminal acts here. He has on several occasions been caught of pilfering, and that we believe he is the only black sheep among us who can attempt to commit such crime"
