Ghanaian Youth urged to desist from social vices




The Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish at Sepe Tinpom in the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi, Monsignor Douglas Peter's has cautioned Ghanaian Youth against Social Vices and other unscrupulous attitude that has the tendency to mar their future.

Speaking at the 43rd annual General Council meeting of the Kumasi Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council at Christian Village, the man of God bemoaned the increasing rate of social vices and lawlessness among the Youth in Ghana.

He cited the zeal to make quick money at all cost as one of the notable vices that has eaten deep into the fiber of most Youth of the country.


He said "most Ghanaian youth in their bid to suddenly enrich themselves have resort to illegal means such as fraud, sakawa, armed robbery among others. This is having an adverse effect on our youngsters, and need to be addressed immediately".

He therefore charged the Youth to desist from arrogance and wait unto the Lord to better their lives, as they will fall astray if they choose their own way.

On his part, Rev. Fr. Kirk Okyere Siabour, the Kumasi Province Youth Chaplain, expressed worry over the lack of commitment and seriousness on the part of some youth in their lives and to the enhancement of National economy and the church as well.

He charged the Youth to work on their vision and aim higher, in order to attain higher standards in life. "We need to adopt the sense of commitment to restore the lost our hope of our beloved country" he added.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Secretary of the Catholic Association of Media Practitioners - Ghana, Ashanti regional Chapter; Mr. Paul Asabre Pinamang on behalf of the association entreated the youth who want to be in the media industry to remain focus and determined, as it entails a lot to become vibrant in the industry.
      

                       


He said the most important function of journalism is to convey information, which is very important in making Democratic decisions, as it brings transparency into the society.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Archdiocesan Catholic Youth chaplain, Rev. Kirk Okyere Siabour, Chairman Mr. Michael Owusu Ababio, General secretary Mr. Kenneth Bediako and entire Deaneries and Parish executives.
