KMA to sweep out commercial sex workers from Adum, Asafo
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has disclosed it's intention to clamp down on illicit sex workers at Adum and Asafo in the Kumasi Metropolis.
A report filed by the Assembly's social services - sub committee which was presented by the Chief Executive officer at KMA, Hon. Samuel Pyne during the Assembly's 2nd ordinary meeting today states that the Assembly has resolved to collaborate with the police and other security agencies to assist them in the battle against the alarming situation of commercial sex activities.
According to the report, the Assembly as a matter of urgency will be consulting the security agencies to undertake regular swoops at the areas to apprehend the culprits.
Parts of Adum and Asafo in the Kumasi Metropolis have from time immemorial been convenient places for commercial sex workers as efforts by city authorities to clamp down on them have proved futile.
Reports have been indicating that most of these sex workers are immigrants from other neighboring countries and minors.
Meanwhile Presiding member at the Assembly, Mr. Patrick Kwame Frimpong speaking Top News 1 on this development expressed dissatisfaction over the situation, saying the Assembly will do all their best to end it.
