Stop using violence to seek for government assistance - DCE to NPP youth
Youth in the country, especially, sympathizers of the ruling NPP party have been advised to refrain from the use of violence and illegal means in their bid to seek for assistance from the government.
According to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya District, Hon. Muheal Amoah Awuku, the youth should rather cultivate the attitude of patience and hold dialogue with the officials in order not to create chaos.
Hon. Muheal gave this advice during a meeting with some members of the NPP in the district at Afari, in the Ashanti Region.
His advice comes on the back of viral reports of some sympathizers of the NPP, who are claiming public assets with violence.
According to him, using violence to attract government's attention for assistance could tarnish the reputation of the government, as president Nana Addo has promised to be a promoter of peace.
He assured the youth in the party of government's plans of creating jobs for them through the various interventions that he is bringing up.
There has been series of reports of violent attacks by some persons calling themselves as NPP royals, disrupting government activities and forcefully claiming public assets.
A recent one happened in the Eastern Region when some irate youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) calling themselves Party Royals, last Friday disrupted the election of a Presiding Member for the Adeiso District Assembly in the region.
According to reports, the angry youth besieged a Pentecost Church where the election was taking place, and allegedly assaulted some Assembly Members for failing to vote for the party’s preferred candidate, Eric Kwesi Mensah, for the position of Presiding Member.
Police in the area has begun an investigation into the circumstances that led to the disturbances. Adeiso District Police Commander, ASP Abrefi Yeboah, told journalists they are yet to make any arrests.
