Political communicators charged to be decent in their utterances on the airwaves
The Chairman for Media Foundation For West Africa, Mr. Kwasi Gyan Apenteng has charged communicators of the various Political Parties in the country to exhibit some sort of decency in their utterances when granted the permission to express themselves on the airwaves as we prepare for polls this year.
Mr. Apenteng advised Media practitioners’ especially on-air presenters to use their platforms to educate the citizenry on peaceful elections rather than to use the medium to promote violence by allowing politicians to use insulting, prejudice and bigotry expressions on their noble platforms.
He made this call during a Forum organized by the Media Foundation For West Africa to introduce a fully packed Language Monitoring Instrument to check abusive speeches, as part of efforts to ensure peaceful elections as political actors intensify their campaign activities to canvass votes ahead of the elections.
The instrument was introduced to monitor activities on the various Radio Stations across the country to ensure that on-air presenters and Political commentators are checked of abusive and provocative languages in order not to mar the peace in the country before, during and after the elections.
