Montie trio judgement too lenient - Nkrabea Effah Dartey
A former Local
Government Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, Captain Rtd Nkrabea
Effah Datey has described the four Months jail term for the Montie convicts by
the Supreme Court as too soft and lenient, considering the structure of their
case.
Mr. Effah Dartey
emphasized that the Montie convicts deserved a two year jail term instead, for
their unqualified attitude to serve as a deterrent to others to be cautious in their choice of
words on issues.
Speaking on Angel In The
Morning with Yaw Nimako, the former
Lawyer condemned the statement made by the
Montie trio on the Airwaves adding that their statement could lead the country
into chaos if care is not taken.
Mr. Nkrabea further
waded into the NDC decision to petition the President for a pardon for the
Montie convicts and said though the President in his own power can pardon them;
it will be “terrible” and a “big mistake” on the part of the President to use
his power to release the offenders.
He said, the president breaches the Ghanaian constitution if he favors the 3 Montie prisoners.
