Don’t go to work until you are told to do so – CLOGSAG urges members
Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has began an indefinite nationwide strike today following government’s refusal to pay them Interim Premium and other allowances as enjoyed by their colleagues at other government institutions.
Leaders of the association say their members are not
being fairly treated in the payment of interim premium to public sector workers
and that they will continue to stay at home until they get what they want.
In an interview with TOPNEWS 1, National Organizer of CLOGSAG,
Emmanuel Acquah urged all their members not to succumb to any threats or
pressure from any quarters in their various districts as the association is
resolute in championing their course, revealing the strike is indefinite.
Nobody should go to work under any circumstances until it
is so declared by the leadership of the association, he charged.
The term "interim Premium" was given to all the new allowances created
during the implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP) pending
the approval of market premium. This took place after the government
issued a white paper on guidelines on implementation but members of
CLOGSAG have been excluded from the payment of the interim premium.
