Ghana's controversial lawyer, Lawyer Mawrice Ampaw has admitted he is the only person who can deal with troublesome Afia Schwarzenegger, host of Angel TV's Angetainment show. According to him, Afia Schwarzenegger has posed herself as a troublesome and a loquacious person who do not fear anybody in this country, but sees her as a peanut in his sight. Lawyer Mawrice Ampaw was speaking with De Don on Kumasi based Agyenkwa FM about the legal case between Afia Schwarzenegger and her husband, Lawrence Abrokwa, as the lawyer for the man. B/A: Atebubu fire command moves to prevent fire outbreaks during the dry season

The Atebubu Amantin district fire service command in the Bring Ahafo Region has issued a ban on activities which involve the use of fire in the bushes in the area, as we head towards the harmattan season. The ban which kick start from November 1st this year and ends on 31st March next year according to the rural fire coordinator, Assistant Station Officer, Zakaria Kabore is in line with the PNDC law act 2290 which prevents the use of fire for activities in the bush. He noted that this move is to prevent the persistent fire outbreaks which has been a major headache on the country during every harmattan period. According to him his outfit will not hesitate to enforce the law to deal with perpetrators who defy the order. Extend school feeding program to our level - JHS pupils to government

The pupils of Weweso M/A JHS in the Oforikrom constituency of Ashanti Region have appealed to the government to extend the school feeding program to the Junior High School level. According to the pupil, they feel neglected by the government for not allowing them to be beneficiaries of the program, unlike the erstwhile president Kuffour Administration when all JHS pupils were made beneficiaries . "This government is not dealing it well with us. President Kuffour during his administration made all pupils including those at the primary level and JHS level to have launch through the school feeding program, but this government has failed to imitate that move". Maale - Maale staff flogged by police at Mamponteng for allegedly burning the company's money

    One of the staff members of Boafo ointment popularly known to be Maale-Maale, Mohammed Abutrika 27 years, has accused  police at the Mamponteng district of Ashanti Region of subjecting him to several flogging for allegedly setting fire on money belonging to the company.   Mohammed Abutrika resides at the company's bungalow and works with the company as a mechanic.   Abutrika narrating his ordeal to the media said he was arrested by his colleague workers with some policemen last Saturday with accusation of being the arsonist who set the money on fire, forced into a vehicle and was conveyed to the police station.   He added that upon reaching the station, some three police men at the station, handcuffed him, ordered him to lie on a table and started flogging and torturing him with a shocker as a way of compelling him to admit guilty to the accusation.   "They pounced ...

Stop using violence to seek for government assistance - DCE to NPP youth

  Youth in the country, especially, sympathizers of the ruling NPP party have been advised to refrain from the use of violence and illegal means in their bid to seek for assistance from the government. According to the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya District, Hon. Muheal Amoah Awuku, the youth should rather cultivate the attitude of patience and hold dialogue with the officials in order not to create chaos. Hon. Muheal gave this advice during a meeting with some members of the NPP in the district at Afari, in the Ashanti Region. His advice comes on the back of viral reports of some sympathizers of the NPP, who are claiming public assets with violence. Maternal women cautioned against self-medicaion and traditional medication

  The senior Midwifery officer at the Midwifery department at the Kumasi Childrens Hospital, Dr. Grace Boateng has cautioned women to desist from self medication and the use of traditional medicine during their maternal period to protect themselves and the unborn baby. According to her, most children, born with deformity is as a result of the application of traditional medicines and lack of antinatal visit during the maternal period of their mothers. Speaking in an interview, the Senior midwife recommended frequent visit to the hospital for pregnant women and urged them to desist from buying medicines outside the hospital without doctors prescription. She noted that the traditional medicines contains some chemicals which is harmful to the body especially when applied by a pregnant woman. E/R: 9 dead, residents flee in a fresh Fulani herdsmen and farmers clash

Some nine persons have been reported dead as a result of a gun battle that has arouse between some Fulani Herdsmen and residents at Dwerebeafe, Abonya and Mpeamu in the Eastern Region over a misunderstanding that ensued between the two functions. Some two other persons, a farmer and a 12 year old boy who sustained life threatening gun shot wounds are currently on admission at the Kwahu Government Hospital receiving treatment, as bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue at Atibie for autopsy. There has been an unusual holiday for school children at some three communities in the Kwahu East District of Eastern Region, as all schools have been closed, following a gory clash between some farmers and Fulani Herdsmen in the area. Suame, KATH roundabout traders want extension of vacation period

                                Traders who have occupied the Suame and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital roundabout in the Kumasi Metropolis have appealed to the Ashanti Regional Minister and the city authorities to consider and extend the deadline given to them to vacate the places. Their call comes on the back of an order given by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah that the petty traders plying the two roundabout should leave there by 5th November next month. A statement issued by Hon. Simon Osei Mensah orders the traders to relocate themselves to the Afia Kobi Market at Abinkyi, Adumanu market and other remote places, as the roundabouts they are plying are not safe for their stay. Asafo Dunkirk collapsing storey building to be demolished by NADMO

A three commercial storey building at Asafo Dunkirk in the Kumasi Metropolis which was on the point of collapse is to be demolished by the Ashanti Regional branch of National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO. The demolition exercise was declared when the NADMO, Police and fire service personnel stormed the place after reports that the house was on the verge of collapse this morning. The exercise according to the NADMO Coordinator, Hon. Kwabena Senkyire was to avert any unforeseen disaster. The place was declared as a danger zone by NADMO Coordinator Kwabena Nsenkyire and Police and was also cordoned to prevent people from patronizing the area. Residents and traders were forced to leave the place to pave way for the building to be demolished. 10 feared injured in gory accident in Kumasi

An accident has occurred at Children's park at Amakon in the Subin Constituency in the Ashanti Region, involving a taxi cab and a ford fiesta. Some ten passengers sustained injuries and have been admitted at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital for treatment. The accident happened at 3: 40 pm when the driver of the taxi with registration number AW 7832 - 12 collided with the Ford fiesta with registration number AS 6729 - 17 in an attempt to overtake the ford. Eye witnesses who narrated the gory incident to TOPNEWS 1  said the driver of the taxi collided with the Ford when he tried to overtake the car when the traffic light failed. Residents near the area in an interview have called on the city authorities to be on their toes and work on all traffic lights in the region to avoid such accidents.
