Ash Reg: Cop commits suicide after an argument with lover at Tafo

Lance Corporal Ebenezer Kofi Okyere with the Striking Force Unit of the Ghana police Service has shot and killed himself with an AK 47 assault rifle this morning (Wednesday 12/07/207) at about 7am after a disagreement with his lover. According to family members at Old Tafo where the incident took place, the deceased aged 35, had spent the night with the unnamed girlfriend in his private home and while he was preparing for work, a disagreement over a telephone conversation ensued between them. The deceased threatened to kill himself, a threat the girl took serious and decided to report to the police but before she could get some assistance, Lance Corporal Ebenezer Kofi Okyere had already pulled the trigger. According to reports, the body has been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital by his colleagues who were invited to the scene after the unfortunate incident.   A 5 Member Committee to investigate and prioritize on the poor nature of Roads in the Kumasi Metropolis and to prioritize their construction  has been established by the Ashanti Regional Minister.  Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah explained that, the five member committee  is to just investigate and prioritize the roads which need immediate construction but not to necessarily construct the roads as being speculated by some media outlets. Odotobri Rural bank donates to some institutions Ashanti Reg

                                         Mr. Siaka Baba Ahmed, CEO, Odotobri Rural Bank Ltd The Odotobri rural Bank Ltd as part of its cooperate social responsibilities has donated some assorted items and cash token worth, Ghc 13,720.00, to some group of Schools and other institutions in the Ashanti Region. The beneficiaries of the donation include, the Ashanti Regional Blind Union. They were given 60 white canes which worth Ghc 3,000.00 to assist their movement. The bank also donated 10 full pieces of GTP Adepa cloth costing Ghc 2,640.00 to the Adansi South Education directorate to be given to deserving teachers in the 2016 best teacher Awards, as a way of motivating them. Boase youth rounded up by Military men over captain Mahama's murder

Several youth of Boase in the Upper West Denkyira district of the Central region have been rounded up by Military men who have stormed the town over the killing of an officer, Captain Maxwell Mahama, by indegenes of the mining community. According to an army statement, about 35 troops are currently in the town to unravel the circumstances surrounding the mob killing of the young officer. The youth are being held for their alleged involvement in the murder of the soldier. Mahama was lynched by residents on suspicion of being an armed robber. The Captain was a military officer with the 5th Infantry Batallion (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra but on detachment duties at the Denkyira Boase of the Central region. Gunshots as Somanya residents clash with Police

  About 8 people have reportedly been injured in a fracas between Police in Somanya and residents following the arrest of the alleged leader of last Friday’s chaos over ECG bills. The demonstration last Friday was to protest 'outrageously' high utility bills charged residents by the Electricity Company of Ghana. The residents were billing GHC 5, 000.00 up to GHC 10, 000.00. The alleged ringleader of the Friday chaos, Dindiindin Adamitey, an assemblyman, was picked up by the Police this morning and is currently in custody assisting with investigations. One of the residents, Eric Asamoah who spoke to Angel News said the youth were demanding the immediate release of the assemblyman hence vandalizing the police station and a Mahindra pick up belonging to the police was burnt. He said police and the military have taken over the town but no one has been arrested.
