Ash Reg: Cop commits suicide after an argument with lover at Tafo

Lance Corporal Ebenezer Kofi Okyere with the Striking Force Unit of the Ghana police Service has shot and killed himself with an AK 47 assault rifle this morning (Wednesday 12/07/207) at about 7am after a disagreement with his lover.

According to family members at Old Tafo where the incident took place, the deceased aged 35, had spent the night with the unnamed girlfriend in his private home and while he was preparing for work, a disagreement over a telephone conversation ensued between them.

The deceased threatened to kill himself, a threat the girl took serious and decided to report to the police but before she could get some assistance, Lance Corporal Ebenezer Kofi Okyere had already pulled the trigger.

According to reports, the body has been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital by his colleagues who were invited to the scene after the unfortunate incident.

Some co-tenants of the house in an interview expressed great shock about the incident and noted that they only heard a strange and scary sound which made them wonder, and rushed to his room only to find the deceased lying lifeless in his sofa in a pool of blood.

Inhumane:Taxi driver beaten mercilessly by Policemen

A taxi driver believed to be in his 40's who ply Anloga Junction to Atonsu had a close shave after some t hree Police Men p ounced on him and assulted him at the Anloga junction Taxi rank. The victim who mentioned his name as Agya Poku explaining his ordeal to TOPNEWS1 said, he engaged in an exchange of insults with the police personnel who were not in their uniform for intentionally blocking the road with their motor bike whilst the traffic light had indicated green. He said, the cops chased him to his taxi rank where he packed his car, dragged him out of his car and started to beat him up, handcuffed him and drove him off to the central Police station where he received several brutalities from other colleagues of the men in black. The driver added that, he was taken to the Police counter after receiving the beatings where he was detained for sometime before releasing him. He is currently in the hospital receiving treatment.

Politicians Tasked to Respect Tradition

The Krontiene for Sunyani Traditional Council has urged politicians to respect traditional authorities in the country. According to Nana Oboaman Bofotia Boampensem, politicians in the country have over the years displayed gross disrespect for traditional rulers, adding that the politicians are too bossy.
