Public cautioned against mobile fraudsters

The general public is being advised to be wary of some unscrupulous individuals who have been parading themselves as Mobile money workers and relatives of people living abroad to defraud people.

The issue of people being doped through dubious means is nothing strange in the system, as complaints have been hearing that people have been posing themselves as mobile network staffers, calling customers to demand money payment to receive an award by the mobile network.

Other reports says people have been posing themselves as relatives of some individuals who are living abroad; call them on phone that they have sent them some items including cash which demands that the receiver pays some amount to the delivery of the items before being handled the items but turns out to be scam.

Speaking in an interview, the Brekum Divisional Police commander, Chief Supt. Andrews Boadu Ekuma advised the general public to be cautious against any dubious strange phone calls they receive, especially when the caller demands the payment of money through mobile money system to receive an award by the mobile network.

He further asked the general public to report to the police if they encounter such situation.
